method: the Pontis SP504 reads music data directly via electrical
contacts from the MultiMediaCard's chip without any mechanical movement
whatsoever.

Description
The most important improvement in
the SP504 is the use of the USB interface,which has greatly accelerated
the download of music data from computer to MP3 player.Nearly all
computers have USB ports these days,and this interface has some decisive
advantages over serial or parallel interfaces.Thanks to the USB
interface,data can now be downloaded to the MP3 player 15 times more
quickly than previously.In addition to higher speed,a maximum of 127 USB
devices can be connected to and disconnected from a computer during
operation.
The Pontis SP504 is not only technically impressive; it is visually
unique and impressive as well. Scarcely larger than a cigarette pack,and
weighing a mere 90 grams,the Pontis SP504 is truly an ideal
companion.One of its most striking qualities is its design.With its
horizontal format and ergonomic shape,the SP504 is one of few MP3
players designed in this manner.The color of the casing - steel blue
--is also new.Small but important improvements include the lettering on
the buttons and a battery life indicator on the player's LED screen.
The Pontis SP504 stores music on MultiMediaCards,which are already
being used by renowned manufacturers such as Siemens,Nokia,Hitachi and
Panasonic.Scarcely larger than a postage stamp,the MultiMediaCard is
nevertheless extremely sturdy.Cards with a maximum storage capacity of
32 MB are currently available.Because the SP504 contains 2 memory
slots,the storage capacity of the SP504 is doubled to 64 MB,enough for
around one hour of music enjoyment in CD quality.The two slot system
makes changing MultiMediaCards child's play,and puts an end to the
restrictions on storage capacity from which other players suffer.
The Pontis LED software supplied with the player takes care of
communication between computer and MP3 player and it supports Windows
98/2000 and Mac OS.
